Satisfied Customer

Greg,
I
weighed the car before the run and it was 4350 pounds, and I added another
200+. ET and MPH both say 570 HP to the
ground. If I use 20% loss through the
drive train yields 712 HP (15% loss 670HP) at the engine. Either number says I gave the setup a VERY
good test. I’m impressed!!!!
Now, the full story. Just giving one set of numbers doesn’t tell
how brutal I was on the transmission. I
made several runs and in the excitement of burnouts, purging the nitrous,
locking my ARB Airlocker, and holding the line-lock, some runs I forgot to pull
the shifter down to D1 to hold third gear and get the harder/faster
shifts. SO the tranny, left in the
worst possible setup, took the abuse.
After getting things right my first time at the track, my best was
11.98. On the third time to the track I
finally got everything put together and made the 11.67 run on the slip.
Abuse at the track is a small part of the story. I’m not that easy on a tranny anyway—street
tires can’t hold my 600 HP (no nitrous).
Is there any more street fun than mashing the throttle at 50 MPH and
breaking loose? I DON’T THINK SO! I’ve been hard on transmissions and my track
record proves that. This one is holding
up. It did take me about three months
to get used to driving this “way different” transmission and torque converter. Now there’s no way I’m thinking of changing
anything about it. We talked shortly
after it was installed, and I mentioned the high stall bothered me. Well, after learning how to drive with the
new tranny (as many transmissions as I’ve been through, I learned each has its
personality) I’m really happy. If it
broke tomorrow (and I’m shocked it hasn’t already) I would tow it over, throw
the credit card on the counter, and say “Give me another one just like this
one!”
I could go on for pages about the fun I’m having
with the “street car” (because of your transmission), but the most fun is at
the track. And now I got the “Big Boys”
asking what’s in my machine. However,
the track personnel also know me. When
I break into the 11’s I am asked to park it because I don’t have a roll cage. So a run or two without nitrous, then I hit
the bottle and just go home.
Well, nuff said.
I am thrilled with the transmission and converter. As I always promise, I will try my hardest
to break this one. Like I haven’t
already!
